Loxagyl 200mg Tablets: Effective Treatment for Running Stomach & Purging Loxagyl 200mg is a trusted antibiotic and antiprotozoal medication used across Nigeria to treat infections. Manufactured by May & Baker Nigeria PLC, it contains Metronidazole, the same active ingredient in Flagyl. It is a reliable solution for "running stomach" or... "purging" (diarrhea) caused by specific infections. What is Loxagyl 200mg Used For? Loxagyl is prescribed to eliminate anaerobic bacteria and protozoa (parasites) that cause discomfort. Common uses include: Running Stomach (Amoebic Dysentery): Provides relief from intestinal parasites that cause severe diarrhea and stomach pain. Purging (Giardiasis): Treatment for infections often contracted from contaminated water or food. Toilet Infection (Bacterial Vaginosis): Relief from vaginal infections characterized by unusual discharge or odor. Dental Infections: Effective for infected gums and dental abscesses. Trichomoniasis: Treatment for this common sexually transmitted infection. Loxagyl 200mg Dosage for Adults Loxagyl should be taken exactly as prescribed. For amoebic dysentery (running stomach), a common adult dose is 800mg (four 200mg tablets) taken three times daily for 5 days. It is best taken with food or a full glass of water to prevent stomach upset. It is important to complete the full course even if you start feeling better to ensure the infection is cleared. Precautions and Side Effects No Alcohol: Do not drink alcohol during treatment and for 48 hours after your final dose to avoid severe reactions like vomiting. Pregnancy & Breastfeeding: If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, speak with a professional before use. Side Effects: Common effects include a metallic taste, nausea, or dark-colored urine.
