How to Use the MeddyLab Safe Period Calculator

The safe period calculator uses the first day of your last menstrual period, your average cycle length and your average period length to estimate your cycle timing. It predicts your likely ovulation date, your fertile window and the days that may be lower-risk within that cycle.

The safe period method is based on cycle tracking, but it is not perfect. Sperm may survive for several days, ovulation may come earlier or later than expected, and some cycles do not follow the same pattern every month. This is why the result should be treated as a planning guide, not a guarantee.

What Counts as Fertile Days?

Fertile days are the days when pregnancy is more likely to happen. They are usually estimated as the five days before ovulation, the ovulation day and about one day after ovulation. These days matter because sperm can survive for several days, while the egg is available for a shorter time after ovulation.
