Effective Relief for Chronic Constipation and Faecal Impaction Movicol Plain sachet is a clinically proven osmotic laxative designed to provide gentle yet effective relief from chronic constipation. Unlike stimulant laxatives that may cause cramping, Movicol works with your body to soften stools and naturally trigger a bowel movement. It is... also indicated for the treatment of faecal impaction, a condition involving severe, long-term constipation. How Movicol Plain Works The primary active ingredient in Movicol is Macrogol 3350 (polyethylene glycol). It works by retaining the water it is dissolved in within the bowel. This hydration softens the stool and increases its volume, which stimulates the natural movement of the intestines. To ensure your body maintains a healthy balance of minerals during treatment, Movicol Plain contains a balanced blend of electrolytes: Sodium Chloride Sodium Bicarbonate Potassium Chloride Why Choose the Plain Variant? The "Plain" version of Movicol is completely unflavoured and contains no added sweeteners or aromatics. This makes it an ideal choice for patients who prefer a neutral taste or those who may have sensitivities to artificial flavourings. Dosage and Preparation For the best results, Movicol Plain must be prepared correctly: Preparation: Dissolve the contents of one sachet in 125ml (approximately half a glass) of water. Stir until the powder is fully dissolved and the solution is clear or slightly hazy. Constipation: The usual dose is 1 sachet taken 1 to 3 times daily, depending on the severity of the constipation. Faecal Impaction: A higher dose of 8 sachets may be required within a 6-hour period for up to 3 days. This should be done under medical supervision. Important Considerations Age: Suitable for adults, adolescents, and the elderly (usually 12 years and older). Hydration: Always drink plenty of water while using laxatives. Consultation: If you are pregnant, breastfeeding, or have underlying kidney or heart conditions, please consult a Meddylab pharmacist or your doctor before use.
