In Nigeria today, products sold under the "Novalgin" name or its local equivalent, NGC-Valgin, typically contain 500mg of Paracetamol (Acetaminophen). This formulation is the safe, NAFDAC-approved alternative to older versions that were discontinued in 2024.
What is Novalgin Used For?
Novalgin 500mg tablets are primarily used for the short-term relief of mild to moderate pain. It is an effective choice for:

How to Take Novalgin (Dosage)

Administration: Swallow the tablets whole with a glass of water. It can be taken with or without food.

Safety and NAFDAC Regulations
Following a 2024 NAFDAC directive, the registration of Metamizole-based Novalgin was discontinued in Nigeria due to safety concerns. The current legal version available in Nigerian pharmacies contains Paracetamol.

Avoid "Double-Dosing": Do not take this with other paracetamol-containing medicines like Panadol or certain cold and flu remedies.
Liver Health: Individuals with liver or kidney issues should consult a doctor before use.
