Precaution Taking excessive acetaminophen can lead to liver damage, potentially requiring a liver transplant or resulting in death. While most acetaminophen is eliminated through urine, a byproduct is produced, which can be toxic to the liver. Side effects of Tylenol (acetaminophen) may include nausea, stomach pain, headache, hoarseness, loss of appetite, itching, rash, dark urine, clay-colored stools, and swelling of the face, throat, tongue, or limbs.
