Viscof acts as both a mucolytic and an expectorant: Ambroxol Hydrochloride (30mg): Breaks down the structure of thick mucus (phlegm), making it less sticky and easier to move. Guaifenesin (50mg): Increases the volume of fluid in the airways, helping to lubricate the throat and facilitate the expulsion of mucus through coughing. Menthol: Provides a cooling sensation that soothes throat irritation often associated with persistent coughing. Indications & Uses Viscof is primarily used in Nigeria for the management of: Chesty coughs with thick phlegm. Acute and chronic bronchitis. Asthmatic bronchitis (under medical supervision). Congestion caused by common cold or allergies. Viscof vs. Viscof-S: What's the difference? It is important to note the difference between the standard Viscof Expectorant and Viscof-S. While the standard Viscof focuses on clearing mucus, Viscof-S contains an additional ingredient, Salbutamol. Salbutamol is a bronchodilator used to open up the airways in patients experiencing wheezing or tightness in the chest. Always check your bottle to ensure you have the correct variant for your symptoms. Dosage Instructions Adults: 5ml to 10ml, three times daily. Children (6-12 years): 5ml, two to three times daily.
